Population Health Services (India), PHSI, is headquartered in Hyderabad with pan India operations. Established in 1999 with the objective of providing/ improving access to high quality and affordable sexual and reproductive health care products & services. PHSI is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization, affiliated to Marie Stopes International, UK. The prime objective of PHSI is to provide the high quality Family Planning & Reproductive Health Care Services to the community specially emphasizing on underserved and vulnerable groups.
Unsafe abortion is one of the major causes of maternal mortality, responsible for an Estimated 13% of the annual 358,000 maternal deaths globally. An additional 8.5 million women suffer injury, illness or disability as a result of unsafe abortion.
